Tourist itineraries – Public transport in Rome
Here are some information about public transport in the “Eternal City”, and some tips on how to get around by public transport in Rome.

The metro network in Rome consists of several lines:
– A line, from Battistini (Primavalle neighborhood) to Anagnina (Osteria del Curato area);
– B line, from Laurentina (Giuliano-Dalmata quarter) to Rebibbia (Ponte Mammolo district);
– B1 line (branch B), from Bologna (Nomentano district) to Jonio (Monte Sacro district);
– C line, from Monte Compatri-Pantano (km 20 of Via Casilina) to San Giovanni (near the homonymous Basilica).
Line A and Line B intersect at Termini station, A and C to San Giovanni.
The Regional Railways, which spread throughout the city and beyond, cover most of the urban fabric:
– Fr1 from Fiumicino to Fara Sabina;
– Fr2 from Tivoli to Rome Tiburtina;
– Fr3 from Viterbo to Rome Ostiense;
– Fr4 from Albano (Roman Castles) to Rome Termini;
– Fr5 from Civitavecchia to Rome Termini;
– Fr6 from Frosinone to Rome Termini;
– Fr7 from Latina to Rome Termini;
– Fr8 from Neptune to Rome Termini.
Finally, the Leonardo Express train that goes from Fiumicino to Rome Termini.
To complete the public transport network there are strong>bus lines and tramway lines.
Public transport in Rome – tickets
You can buy the ticket from almost all tobacconists, newsagents, tourist information points or automatic ticket offices located in all metro stations.
Children under 10 do not pay.
• BIT. It costs € 1.50 and lasts for 100 minutes. After you have stamped the ticket you have 100 minutes to take freely all the means you want*.
• Roma 24H. It has a cost of € 7,00 and is valid for 24 hours after the first stamping and for an unlimited number of trips to the territory of Rome.
• Roma 48H. It has a cost of € 12.50 and is valid for 48 hours from the first stamping and for an unlimited number of trips to the territory of Rome.
• Rome 72H. It has a cost of € 18,00 and is valid 72 hours after the first stamping and for an unlimited number of trips to the territory of Rome
• CIS. It has a cost of € 24,00 and is valid for 7 days from the date of the first stamp, that is until 24.00 on the seventh day including the stamping date, and for an unlimited number of trips to the territory of Rome.
*Ticket can only be used once for Metro. To switch from one line to another you do not have to stamp the ticket again, but once you leave the station you will no longer be able to use the Metro. Instead, you can safely use the same ticket for Metro and then for the bus, or vice versa. The ticket is also valid for the Rome-Lido line that from the Piramide station will allow you to reach Ostia Antica.
